Do you need to speak better Swedish at work? Take a course of professional Swedish that fits your needs. I have experience of teaching many fields and will prepare a course for your particular line of work.

Terminology is a part of the course, but it's usually other parts of the language that cause the most problems, such as the day to day communication at the workplace.

Form: In Östersund or as a distance course of professional Swedish
Books: My own material and classic textbooks (in physical or digital form)
Teacher: Emil Molander, registered teacher of Swedish as a second language

For medical doctors, nurses and others in the medical field, language is the most important tool. Adding the fact that there are a ton of terminology and special expressions, it's not easy to study and practice medical Swedish with just anybody.

I specialize in medical language, including anatomy, pathology, medical records, patient-doctor conversation and more. Take a course that lets you practise all of this. If you want to, we'll prepare for PYS medicin C1 in order for you to get a Swedish medical license when you're ready.

A special course for those who work at a university. All your work tasks can be managed in English, but you do live in a country where you need Swedish in order to really feel part of the community. Plus, almost everyone speaks Swedish during coffee breaks where you work.

Contents

  • Conversation - to tag along when your co-workers switch to Swedish.
  • Pronunciation - to make you feel more secure when you open your mouth.
  • Writing for communication - to be able to write e-mails without double-checking every single word.
  • Writing reports and other texts - to get started with academic Swedish.

Your grammar may be perfect, but if your pronunciation is bad, you still won't make yourself understood. I'll analyse your prosody, your intonation and your vowels and consonants, and help you practise to reach the next level.

We'll read custom texts that fit your particular pronunciation problems and I'll record them for you to practise on you own. I'll help you identify what you're doing wrong and I'll give you exercises, but you're the one that has to do the hard work in order to change the way you speak. It might take some time, but it's never too late!

This course fits you if you don't have time or possibility to go to SFI and need a quick start in Sweden. Using great course literature and a lot of homework, you'll be able to get far in just a couple of weeks.

It'll be easier and more fun if you have someone to study beside you, so bring a group of friends and let's get started! Up to five people can join the group.

You speak well enough for your needs and you don't have any problems saying what you want or talking to anyone, but when it's time to write you get stuck and it takes time. Does this sound like you?

Two things are usually the problem:

  1. You're unsure about the grammar.
  2. You don't know how to properly connect phrases and paragraphs in Swedish.

We'll practise both! I'll give you writing tasks and I'll check your texts. Then we will go through it together, looking at advantages and things that need improvement. I'll explain the grammar in such a way that you really understand it and give you exercises for it. You'll get lots of handy words and phrases to connect the different parts of your texts and to give variation to your written language.

You'll feel more secure in just a few weeks!

How do we do it?

We'll start by making contact through e-mail or telephone. When you have told me what you need I'll suggest a tailor made course for you. I will usually need to know this:

  • How much Swedish do you already speak? Did you take any courses or learn some other way? It's helpful if you make a self assessment using CEFR, the levels stated by the European council..
  • How much time do you have? You'll need to come to class but also study at home.
  • What do you want to achieve? Do you want to improve anything in particular, such as pronunciation or writing?
  • Do you want to learn the language of a particular area, such as your line of work?
